Dresser Drawer Organization

We have all been there. And by “there” I mean when our dresser drawer won’t close. Annoying is an understatement for this situation. To help prevent this from happening organization is essential. One of the simplest and most effective ways to organize your drawer depends on how your clothes are folded. This may seem simple and like it will not help that much, but it does! The smallest you can make your clothes, the less surface area they take up, and the more clothes you can fit in your drawer….BOOM science! When you can fit more clothes in your draw that means also that you have more space and are more organized. Opposed to your drawer being filled up with piles of unfolded clothes so that you can’t close it. Another easy way to organize a dresser draw is with a draw organizer. These are great for easy/fast organization and separation of things. The perfect drawer is the one that you customize and make your own so put your own twist on your organization that is what makes it special.

The Double Fold

The double fold is the way I fold my clothes. Personally, this is the easiest and less time consuming (at the same time, whatever technique you use, the more fluently and easily you use it).

  1. Start with your shirt spread out
  2. Fold in one sleeve along with 1/2 of the shirt a little over the middle
  3. Now, fold the opposite sleeve along with that 1/2 of the shirt into the middle. Fold this 1/2 of the shirt a little further than half way (about a 1/2 an inch, give or take, over the other half)
  4. Take the bottom of the shirt (complete opposite of the collar) and fold it up to the collar
  5. Repeat this step once more. Take the bottom of the shirt (opposite the collar) and pull it up to the collar
  6. Finished! Now, you should have a small rectangle of a shirt

The Roll Fold

This is another space saving fold that helps organize your drawer. *This fold starts similarly to the double fold except at the at the end instead of folding the shirt up, the shirt is rolled up.

  1. Start with your shirt spread out
  2. Fold in one sleeve along with 1/2 of the shirt a little over the middle
  3. Fold the opposite sleeve, along with that 1/2 of the shirt into the middle. Make sure it goes all the way to the other side/covering the other side (it should be covering the other side about a 1/2 an inch, give or take).
  4. Start at the bottom-roll the shirt up to the collar
  5. Finished! Now, you should have a rolled up shirt (First picture: Side View. Second picture: Top View). Once the shirt is completely folded, it should be in a cylinder shape.

The Drawer Organizer

This is the easiest way to organize anything whether in your desk, jewelry, or dresser drawer.  The bad part about these organizers is that they do cost money. A drawer organizer is not over expensive, but it does cost money. In my opinion, this is a great gift-list idea (Christmas, birthday, mothers day, etc..).

A couple of the ways you can organize with your dresser drawer organizer

  1. Have a couple different ones to separate different clothing items (Example: I have one for my socks, one for my undergarments, and one for my tank tops/shirts.)
  2. Organize my color or style (These are my “go-to” ways to organize because it looks good and clean and it is easy to find what I am looking for)
  3. Don’t be afraid to cut off sections or add more-which can be done easily with just cardboard (This helps you customize your organizer and make it the most efficient for YOU!)
